This medicine is not right for everyone. You should not receive it if you had an allergic reaction to remestemcel-L-rknd, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), porcine (pork), or bovine (beef) products.How to Use This Medicine:
Injectable
- Your doctor will prescribe your dose and schedule. This medicine is given through a needle placed in a vein. This medicine must be given slowly, so the IV will need to stay in place for at least 60 minutes.
- A nurse or other health provider will give you this medicine.
- Your child may also receive other medicines (including allergy medicine or steroid) 30 to 60 minutes before receiving this medicine.
Drugs and Foods to Avoid:
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
Warnings While Using This Medicine:
- Tell your child's doctor if your child is pregnant or breastfeeding.
- This medicine may cause the following problems:
- Infusion reactions
- Increased risk of ectopic tissue formation (tissue growth outside normal location)
- This medicine is made from donated human blood. Some human blood products have transmitted certain viruses (including HIV, hepatitis B or C) or genetic diseases to people who have received them, although the risk is low.
- Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
Possible Side Effects While Using This Medicine:
Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Bleeding gums, coughing up blood, headache, nosebleeds, trouble breathing
- Blurred vision, dizziness, nervousness, pounding in the ears, slow or fast heartbeat
- Fever, chills, cough, sore throat, body aches
- Rapid weight gain, swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet
If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor:
- Stomach pain
